 Welcome friends! My name is Mike, and I am the Erudite DM.

This website presents fun content, adventures, monsters, spells, lore and other ttrpg ideas for your Shadowdark, D&D in all its editions, Castles & Crusades, Pathfinder, Knave, Cairn, or other OSR-style gaming sessions. I hope you find the ideas and community we build together interesting.

There are free resources you may download here and use however you see fit. From time to time, I will also post adventures, supplements or zines for sale. All affordable on nearly any budget.

My success will be determined by your interactions and feedback. I truly want to hear how you use or improve my ideas. Surely, I can learn as much from you as you might from me.

Why “Erudite”? I chose this moniker because I was educated in European History (BA/MA) and spent the past 35+ years reading, studying and visiting Western Europe with a focus on the medieval period. My interests include poetry, films, books, folklore, languages, art, architecture, and literature that almost always spur great gaming ideas for our fantasy roleplaying settings. I frequently look for inspiration in the Hundred Years War, Viking conquests, poems of Robert Browning or William Blake, or the gothic novels of Robert Chambers, Bram Stoker or Lord Dunsany to cast grave new tales and chilling, suspenseful adventures for my games. While my enthusiasm is boundless, my erudition has limits, and I do not claim to be an expert at anything. Just when you think you have completed your ttrpgs education, recall the words of Issac Asimov:

 “Education isn’t something you can finish.”
