Talking Shadowdark on Monday Night Adventures

After watching these guys play Shadowdark every Monday night for almost a year on YouTube livestream, they asked me to join in and play! All of my snarky sniping in the comments sections, aka the “Peanut Gallery”, finally paid off. HAhaha!

On this particular Monday night, April 7, 2025, our special guest had to drop out at the last minute, but we will get him on soon to talk about his fantastic Shadowdark expansion products and game supplements.

In this episode, we had a gamers’ roundtable on Shadowdark and other ttrpg topics. We talked about Greg Christopher’s (aka @ChubbyFunster) The Last Candle and his use of languages in this campaign world based on a French medieval fantasy setting. Is Common just a handwave in most games, or can we add multiple dialects and separate versions of the ubiquitous Common. How can we use languages to add interest and flavor at the game table? Even the comment section got into the fun, sharing their thoughts and suggestions.

We also touched on the new Western Reaches release from The Arcane Library and Kelsey Dionne, city adventures, hex map explorations, and hex flowers. Give it a watch and send me any follow-up ideas, comments, or questions at eruditedm@gmail.com.

My special thanks to Tim Shorts @Gothridge Manor, and Paul Turner @FlintFireforge. These guys are terrific, knowledgeable, and a blast to play with. Huzzahs to Vance, Ken, and @JoeTheLawyer, too!
