Weaponry: Rondel Dagger

Your fighter is locked in melee against an Orc or a black knight. On your attack you drop your shield and try to grapple with him. On the next attack roll you successfully knock him prone and pin him on the ground. Now it’s time to draw the long deadly Rondel dagger from the sheath on your hip.

The Rondel was made specifically for striking an enemy in plate armor by stabbing into any exposed areas between the heavy armor–the helmet visor, the groin, neck, or back of the knee. It’s brutal, but the only way to penetrate through the heavily armored foe and finish them quickly. The Rondel is all about control, positioning, and inevitably ending the struggle in your favor.

Then there is what was known as “The Mercy”- a fast, merciful death for a wounded, exhausted, or disabled opponent. This quick death was an act of chivalry for an honored enemy. In Shadowdark, it can also be a practical way to ensure the Gnoll doesn’t rise again.

Once pinned on the ground, a Rondel stab that strikes home can accrue additional damage, making it a lethal option for your fighter.
