Knight Lancer Class for Shadowdark RPG

For the longest time, D&D and other ttrpgs, and now Shadowdark have failed to satisfy my need for a traditional jousting knight in the mold of the Arthurian cannon. Now I am working on my first Shadowdark supplement for warhorses and mounted travel with expanded content for the different types of horses, jousting rules, and even a one-shot adventure featuring these rules and new tables, equine magic items, gods, and spell magic, plus more mundanc mounted travel flavor to add medieval richness to any Shadowdark campaign or adventure.

My hope is that after some reviews and suggestions from some well-respected gamers who know Shadowdark and OSR gaming, I will be able to clean up my final drafts and put these out on DriveThruRPG or Itch. I really think the class could be converted easily for use with D&D in all its editions, Knave, Cairn, OSE or other RPGs. I need to make some artwork connections to really pretty up these first iterations.

This class is a traditional Knight trained for jousting in mortal battle and melee contests or in non-lethal tournament jousts where points are earned to determine the victor and damage is cut by a third; still dangerous business, but unlikely to result in the untimely death of one of the combatants. We assume the class comes with a campaign or two in the character’s history, and possibly service as a squire. I foresee mostly humans or elves playing this class with any alignment. Their focus is on earning prestigious honors in the service of the liege lord.

I will offer my simple jousting rules soon on this site as a FREE download. I WANT you to try them out and offer feedback. I have limited this class to a specific historic anachronism, so I stop short of dragon jousts and dwarvish knights riding mastiffs etc. But if you love that and want to do it, please go for it.. and have fun!
